Everyone is a Twilight fan!

I've only read the first book, and seen the first movie. It was okay, a good read...but I don't really have the driving need to read the rest.

The characters were more cute than deep, though charismatic and attractive. The story did keep me involved, and I did want to know what happened next.

I didn't think it was something I would want my 12 year old niece to read, though her 12 year old friend thought it was great.

There is a wide range of readers, from very young, to not so young, and everyone seems to like it.

I might be more inclined to watch the upcoming movies, as the movie itself seemed to be very well done. They followed the book well, and had decent effects.

I enjoy watching movies that come from books, and I was not disappointed in how the book was portrayed.

Death Gate Cycle

The Death Gate Cycle is a seven book Fantasy series, written by Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman.

I originally read all seven books when I was about fourteen and my mother and I used to trade books (how many kids can say that about their parents!)

Mom recently sent me all seven of the books we had way back when, and I have begun re-reading them for the first time since I was fourteen.

If you like Fantasy books, this series is great! I just finished re-reading the first book, Dragon Wing. Since it is the first book, it does take some time and effort in defining the characters, and there are so many introduced that it is sometimes difficult to keep up. But once you get it, the story picks up.

There are many different characters coming from all over in the story. Characters cross paths, and disappear and reappear.

The concept of a world divided is crystal clear in this wondrous tale. If you haven't already read this series, you should.

The Death Gate Cycle:

Book One: Dragon Wing

Book Two: Elven Star

Book Three: Fire Sea

Book Four: Serpent Mage

Book Five: The Hand of Chaos

Book Six: Into the Labyrinth

Book Seven: The Seventh Gate

Latest Read

Just finished Nora Roberts' Black Hills, just released on July 7, 2009.

Like all Nora Roberts' books, this one just sucked me in. It wasn't a fast page turner like some of her books that you just can 't put down, but the need to know what happens next keeps you coming back until the end.

The main characters are well drawn, thoughtful individuals. Following their adolescent problems into adulthood takes time, but is utilized well in defining their characters.

The plot takes long to build, then snowballs quickly at the end. The antagonist comes from out of left-field, and there isn't much depth to him, but as usual, Nora Roberts doesn't let you down.

Definitely worth reading....

Favorite Authors

Currently favorite authors include Nora Roberts, Amanda Quick, Jayne Ann Krentz, Christina Dodd, Julie Garwood, Louis L'Amour, David Eddings, J.K.
